Frequently asked questions about SolarNext Hourly Matching & green energy certification

SolarNext is neither an electricity supplier, broker, nor physical grid buyer. We are a sovereign trusted software overlay. Our integration requires no modification of your existing supply or aggregation contracts.

General Questions

What is SolarNext?

SolarNext is a next-generation software platform that tracks and certifies renewable energy consumption on an hourly basis (Hourly Matching). We help companies prove the real impact of their energy transition using blockchain technology, without any hardware installation.

Who is your solution for?

Our solution is primarily aimed at two market participants:

  • Industrial energy consumers (Data Centers, green hydrogen producers, large enterprises) subject to strict decarbonation requirements.
  • Renewable energy producers who want to monetize their production beyond traditional support mechanisms.
What is 'Hourly Matching' (hourly traceability)?

Traditionally, carbon offsetting is done on an annual basis. Hourly Matching consists of matching your electricity consumption with local green energy production during the same hour. It is the strictest and most virtuous standard on the market.

Why is hourly traceability becoming essential?

European regulations, notably the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and the RFNBO rules for green hydrogen, now require full transparency and strict temporal correlation in order to qualify energy as '100% renewable'.

For Businesses & Energy Consumers

What hardware do I need to install SolarNext in my company?

No hardware is required. SolarNext is a 100% software solution (Capital Light). We connect directly to your smart meter data via the Enedis Data Connect API.

How does SolarNext help me with my CSRD reporting?

SolarNext generates tamper-proof audit reports and hourly certificates of origin. These documents are directly usable by your statutory auditors or audit firms (KPMG, EY, etc.) to validate your Scope 2.

What are the advantages over traditional Guarantees of Origin (GO)?

Traditional Guarantees of Origin ensure that a green megawatt-hour was produced somewhere in Europe during the year. SolarNext proves that green energy was fed into the grid at the exact time you needed it, thus avoiding 'greenwashing'.

Do you offer a trial or Proof of Concept (PoC)?

Yes, we support our first partner clients (notably in the Data Center and industrial sectors) through a free pilot program that allows testing the solution on a defined perimeter before moving to the SaaS model.

For Renewable Energy Producers

What is the benefit for an energy producer to join SolarNext?

By joining SolarNext, you can monetize your green electricity with companies willing to pay a premium for local hourly traceability, particularly for installations exiting Purchase Obligation contracts (post-PPA).

How is my production data integrated?

In the same way as for consumers, we retrieve your injection data automatically via network operator APIs (Enedis) or directly via your connected inverter APIs.

Does SolarNext interfere with my current electricity supplier or aggregator?

No. SolarNext is a certification and traceability software layer. We do not intervene in the physical sale of electricity or in your current supply contracts.

Technology, Blockchain & Security

Why use blockchain instead of a traditional database?

Blockchain guarantees immutable data anchoring. Once a production volume is assigned to a consumption volume for a given hour, this information can neither be modified, duplicated, nor counted twice. This ensures absolute transparency ('Trust, not Crypto').

What is the $WATT token?

The $WATT token is an internal digital unit of account within our protocol. It represents the digital certification of one kilowatt-hour (kWh) of green energy produced and tracked in real time.

Is the $WATT token a speculative cryptocurrency?

Absolutely not. The $WATT token is a technical Utility Token. It is not designed for speculation and its legal structure is strictly aligned with the European MiCA regulation to ensure the security of your financial departments.

What is the environmental impact of the blockchain used by SolarNext?

We are aware of ecological issues. That is why SolarNext uses a cutting-edge, low-energy blockchain infrastructure (Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism), ensuring that the carbon cost of certification is negligible compared to the energy being tracked.

How do you guarantee the confidentiality of our industrial data?

Your company's sensitive data (precise load curves) is protected. We use a Dual-Layer Hashing engine: only cryptographic certification proofs are recorded on the public blockchain, while your raw consumption data remains confidential and GDPR-compliant.

Business Model & Partnerships

What is SolarNext's pricing model?

SolarNext operates as a software subscription (SaaS). The price is indexed on the volume of energy tracked or on the number of connected sites, ensuring a predictable model with no upfront investment (zero CapEx).

Do you work with auditors and CSR consultants?

Yes, we have designed a specific interface for audit and consulting firms. They can access (with your authorization) a dedicated portal to directly download the compliance proofs needed for your extra-financial statements.

Is SolarNext available outside of France?

Currently, our launch phase (Phase 1 - Genesis) focuses on the French grid via Enedis infrastructure. However, the solution is designed to quickly expand to other European network operators sharing the same open API standards.

How do I get started with SolarNext?

It is very simple: contact our sales team via the website form for a personalized demonstration. Once the authorization to access your metering data is electronically signed, the platform can be activated in less than 48 hours.
